Electric chain hoists for wind power plants are used for the transportation of spare parts and tools from the ground to the nacelle. Due to large lifting height these hoists are equipped with some special features: for example there is an automatic switch from normal to creep speed before the end postion is reached. This function avoids the load hook running against the housing with high speed, as this could possibily cause unsecured parts of the load to fall down (i.e. items from the tool box). The protection cap over the load hook is another gadget. It elminates the risk of load hook sticking to something unintentionally during the long way to the top.
